   Gene had a love of music from an early age. In high school, he was part of the band "Gene Pitney and the Genials". As well as music, Gene was a keen student and, after high school, he began studying electrical engineering. However, his music and studies were coming into increasing conflict and Gene began to move more towards his musical ambitions.

   I'm Gonna Be Strong is an early power ballard. Yes, it is a great hit and Gene's best solo UK seller. I bet is was really Aladdin's Lamp on the B side that made it sell though. It is a bit cheeky with a great doo wop feel. Written by Gene himself I go for that every time I pick up this record.
